From time to time, sporting events stop. The reason behind this can be very different, from bad weather to racist abuse of the audience. In tennis, it happens quite often that a game is interrupted, but it is less likely to end.
This article will walk you through what happens to a bet if a game is stopped. There is a difference between “interrupted” and “terminated” which you should know before placing a bet or when this happens after you have placed a bet.
what happens When a game is interrupted
When a game is stopped before it has reached its natural conclusion (i.e. the end of a set for a match between two players, or the end of play in soccer), this is labeled as interrupted play and betting they are still valid. all markets offered.
All live bets will remain valid unless you have specifically placed your bet on the game which will be void if it is interrupted.
If you have placed a bet on the total number of tennis matches, for example, and you choose those that are interrupted, your bet will be refunded if any of these bets are not completed due to an interruption.
Bets offering odds based on the end of the game in a particular way (eg I play Player A to win) will be void if the match is abandoned after it has started, regardless of the result.
what happens when a game is over
When a game is stopped before it has reached its natural conclusion (i.e. the end of a set for a match between two players or the end of the game in soccer), this is tagged as a game over and bets will be settled. they will refund. in all offered markets.
All live bets will be void unless you have specifically placed your bet on the game which will be void if it is discontinued.
what happens When a game is abandoned
When a game is interrupted and abandoned without reaching its natural conclusion (eg the end of a set for a match between two players or the end of a football game), bets will be refunded on all offered markets.
All live bets will be void unless you have specifically placed your bet on the game which will be void if it is discontinued.
Suppose that a certain number of games have been agreed for betting purposes, and these were not completed due to an interruption or abandonment. In that case, the bets will prevail and the total number of games in tennis, for example, will be calculated based on the result after the end of the rally.
To give you an example, for betting purposes, the match between Maria Sharapova and Simona Halep in Indian Wells was considered to continue until two more matches were played due to rain interruption. The match was then abandoned without reaching a natural conclusion (one set each), resulting in bets void in all markets. However, all bets would have stood if play had been stopped after two games (one set each).
The rules that apply to sportsbooks are different from those of live betting operators. If you place your bet on an event that ends, your bets are returned to your account automatically; however, if you place a bet on a discontinued and then cancelled, you will still receive a refund.
